Teaching Philosophy
The Cosine Academy favours proven traditional techniques of learning. This approach is then refined for each student depending on the individual requirements and goals.
Math is best practiced by doing it on paper! Science is best reinforced by doing problems and sketching diagrams. Practice of problems with spaced repetition is a key component to retention.
Memorisation of key concepts is encouraged, this can be made fun by turning it into memory challenges with your friends. It's also important to build resilience and confidence in solving problems without reliance on a person, computer or other resource.
Nz academic standards are falling
NZ has been falling behind in school academic standards over the last couple of decades. This decline in academic performance is clear over both national testing and when compared internationally.
